The villa is surrounded by two hectares of Mediterranean gardens, where we have many types of exotic plants, flowers and trees making it a gardener's paradise. We have several Agave Mexicanas, a huge Lebanese cedar tree, various types of palms, pine trees, fig trees, cypress trees, mimosa, oleanders, rose bushes, etc.. There are 60 olive trees in the garden, some of which are 1,000 years old. Also on the terraces, we have cherry trees, fig trees, grape vines, pears and small palms. On the terrace immediately in front of the villa, we have 4 majestic Phoenix palms and several large ancient olive pots filled with geraniums and in the flower beds, polygala, camelias and agapantha. Crawling up the terrace wall are a large, orange trumpet vine, bougainvillea and plumbago. We have lavender in front of the house and in the garden of Herb Cottage and also lemon and orange trees.

The pergola which is next to the swimming pool has white wisteria, morning glory and bougainvillea. We have beautiful red squirrels in the garden who can sometimes be spotted drinking from the swimming pool! There have also been several sightings of polecates in the garden! Also, the sound of the cicadas in the summer is hypnotic. There are small lizards basking in the sun and, of course, many different birds - we have woodpeckers, hoopos, collar doves, wood pigeons, great tits, blue tits, chaffinches, bullfinches, robins, treecreepers and eagles often soar high above, drifting over from the mountains. We also have 3 cats - 2 tabby cats called PussPuss and Charlie and a tubby black cat called Rosie who are all very popular with our younger guests!

NEW - HEATED SWIMMING POOL
In late 2003, we installed a new 3.5 kW heat-pump for the swimming pool. This is used from the 1st April to 15th May and from 15th September to the end of October (obviously from 15th May to 15th September, the pool is a warm temperature anyway). The heat produced is not entirely predictable, since it depends to some extent on the temperature of the air but we hope to be able to keep the temperature above 20°C. If rental guests wish to use the heat-pump at any other times of the year, there will be a supplementary charge of 100 Euros per week. Please give us not less than 2 weeks' notice if you want special use of the heater.

The view from La Rivolte never ceases to amaze, everyday it changes. At night the lights of the neighbouring towns and villages are shimmering. The view looks over not only the old town of Grasse, but also the bay of Cannes, the Cap d'Esterel and also the villages of Mougins, Mouans-Sartoux and Auribeau.
